Hi, I’m Vikki and I was addicted to work.
It was where I felt important, good, valued, successful. And so it is no surprise that I reached 80-hour weeks. And celebrated it. Being solo in the office on a Saturday. Last one out at 10pm. I thought that meant I cared more. That I'd get promoted faster.
Turns out I was wrong. It took me three burnouts (because I had to be sure), daily anxiety and being forced to close a business I love and move back in with my parents as my friends were having kids and buying houses to declare: ENOUGH.
I solved my addiction and committed to building sustainably.
And I created fast success that way. Shocking, I know. So just 2 years later I decided to do a crazy experiment and create a 15 hour work week. Driven by wanting to become a parent and not seeing any models out there that I wanted to live.
I didn't know then that I was about to have a difficult pregnancy and be put on bed rest for two months. I didn't know I'd give birth with my partner stuck in another country for 6 months. I didn’t know I’d become a solo toddler mum 2 years later. I didn't know I'd lose loved ones, face health scares, or go through the kind of life changes that would have ended the business entirely… if I hadn't already built it around my life instead of the other way around.
I've had multi-six-figure years since 2021.
I oversold my last launch. I did all of it working 15 hours. My son thinks month-long vacations are normal. We have explored world school and I get to make decisions for him based on my values not convenience. I spend more time with my parents in a week than most do in months. And I’m always available for my friends with their minor (or major) emergencies and last minute travel opportunities.
